North Beach was the site of a Cyclocross race this weekend and the crowd was from across the world. there were racers from Belgium, England, France, Germany and of course many from the US.
This was the first event of this type I’ve seen. The course consisted of smooth riding parts mixed with mud pits and sand pits. Although due to three days of rain the entire course quickly turned into a mud run. Some of the smooth areas ended up being so muddy that some riders had to carry their bikes through them instead of riding.
The sand pits are designed to force riders to get off their bikes and carry them through.
